We measured 102 decibels at the operator ear during rebar cutting with the abrasive blade. That is loud enough to require hearing protection — OSHA mandates protection above 85 decibels. With the diamond blade on masonry, the noise dropped to 96 decibels. The water system does not significantly reduce noise. Wear earplugs or earmuffs regardless of the material you are cutting.
